Reading Workshops

Reading workshops are a way of differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students through self-selected texts and books on their ability level. To complete a reading workshop, teachers must do the following:

1. Teach a mini-lesson on a skill and model the skill for students.
2. Have students use the skill with their self-selected book to show mastery of the skill.
3. Allow students time to read and work independently.
4. Review the mini-lesson and skill and build upon it in future lessons.
